How do I see which products or customers make money?
Profitability shows gross profit grouped by product, by customer, or by invoice, over any date range.
Profitability answers "what actually earned us anything?". Open it from Reports and choose how to group it:
• By product — which items carry your margin and which barely pay for themselves.
• By customer — who is worth the effort once discounts are counted.
• By sales invoice — margin on one deal.
Set a date range to look at a month, a quarter or a season.
The figures are gross profit: what you sold it for, less what that stock actually cost you, taken from the same costing your books use. It does not take off rent, salaries or other running costs — for that, use Profit and loss.
You can download it as a PDF or a spreadsheet.
Still not sure? Ask it in the chat in the corner — no account needed, and a person answers whatever the assistant can't.
How do I see how much stock is in each warehouse?
Stock by warehouse: products down the side, warehouses across the top, as of a date you choose.
How do I settle a small difference left on a customer or supplier balance?
Clear a rounding remainder, an agreed discount or a bad debt with Settle difference, rather than leaving it on the statement.
My trial balance does not look right
Balances are calculated from the entries themselves, so a surprise is almost always an opening balance or a date filter.
Which report answers my question?
Statement for one account, Trial balance to check the books, P&L for profit, Balance sheet for position.
